Ballarat & Barwon Heads, VIC

And all just 90 minutes from Melbourne. Explore the great outdoors on our extensive cycle paths, mountain biking and city walking trails. Discover gold at Sovereign Hill, or learn about native flora in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens or experience hand feeding a Kangaroo at the Ballarat Wildlife and Reptile Park. This is a place that the kids will never tire of!

We then headed south east and out to the Victorian coast to Barwon Heads, just 85 minutes from Melbourne.  It is located on the mouth of the Barwon River has a population of about 1300 permanent residents that swells to many times that around the Christmas holidays. It has always been a holiday resort providing plenty of opportunities for relaxation. 13th Beach surf beach can be seen as a popular spot all year round for enthusiastic surfers. Or you can take the kids to the river mouth to swim with no waves, and its really safe.
Jirrahlinga wild life sanctuary on the edge of the town provides a great opportunity to see native animals and birds at close range. Its a very relaxing place indeed and definately worth at least a week here!

Our Travel Itinerary

Australia is such a beautiful country and it’s right on our doorstep so it’s time we all got out and about and travel Australia the best way possible, camping and caravanning. For 2012 Series 5 sees us tackle some of Australia's most remotest areas of Western Australia, Northern Territory and Outback Queensland.  Our goal "all clear umpire" is to show off some great treasures of our great country, Australia as well as Sheree's homeland of New Zealand and even an extra special motorhome trip thru Alaska, Canada & USA. Rain, hail or shine.
